How does the Communal Cremation Work?
Waiting period: 3 consecutive months before cremation claims.
Pet limit: Up to 4 pets per family.
Age limit: Pets must be under 8 years at sign-up.
Registered pets only: Only pets on the Identipet database are covered.
Inform your vet
Tell them you have Identipet Protect and need a Legacy Pet communal cremation.
Third-party cremations aren’t included in this subscription.

Legacy Pet arranges collection and cremates your beloved companion with other pets.
Return of Ashes
Optional extra: Individually cremated for a fee, paid directly to Legacy Pet. The pet’s ashes are returned in a beautiful scatter box.

How does the Pet Rescue Network work?
Microchips aren’t trackers, but they give your pet a voice. If your pet goes missing, send an SOS alert to local pet lovers. Once scanned, their chip links straight back to you, reuniting you faster.

On the Identipet app, check that your contact details are correct on our database. All vets and welfares have access to our database to check pet’s details.

Pet Rescuers within 5km are notified, as well as your emergency contacts, with a missing pet photo.

Let your vet and local welfare services know your pet is missing and give a clear description.
Put up posters
Street pole posters and social media posts do help.
Pet found
When your pet is picked up and taken to a vet or welfare, they will immediately be scanned.
Owner contacted
The vet will phone you straight away to say they have your pet!

Your pet is cremated respectfully alongside other pets. It’s a dignified, environmentally friendly process, but ashes cannot be returned.

Yes! At the time of passing, you can choose a Return of Ashes for a fee of R1060, paid directly to Legacy Pet. Your pet will then be individually cremated and returned in a scatter box.
