Snug as a bug

As the chilly winds start to blow and winter’s here, it's time to think about keeping our companions warm and cosy. Here are some tips to show your faithful furry friends some care.

Dress Up in Style:

Pamper your pet with a functional winter wardrobe. Cute sweaters and snug jackets make your pet look dashing but also provide an extra layer of warmth. Check your local vet shop or get your granny to make one.

Create a Cosy Nook:

Just like us, pets love their cosy corners. Set up a warm and inviting spot for them in your home. Place a soft blanket or pet bed away from drafts and cold floors. You can even add some extra fluff by lining their bed with a blanket. Your furry friend will love having their very own retreat, especially when the temperatures drop.

Keep It Moving:

Even during winter, regular exercise is vital for your pet's well-being. Maintain your furry friend's exercise routine, but be mindful of the weather. Take them for walks during the warmer parts of the day, when the sun is shining, and the wind isn't too harsh. Don't forget to dry them off thoroughly afterwards, as wet fur can cause discomfort and chill.

Happy Tummies:

Nothing warms the heart (and tummy) quite like a nourishing meal. Feed your pet a little extra in the colder months, although bear in mind that they shouldn’t put on weight.

Protect from Drafts:

Drafty areas in your home can make your pet feel cold and uncomfortable. Put them in a spot free from drafts. If they are outside dogs please provide a solid, raised kennel, and choose an area protected from the elements. Seal any gaps in the kennel and add some blankets to keep the cold at bay.

Fresh Water, Always:

Make sure your pet has access to fresh water at all times. Cold weather doesn't diminish their need for hydration, so keep their water bowl filled with clean water.
