Microchips are not trackers but they do save lives by giving your pet an identity. If your pet goes missing, you can send an SOS alert on our app to a community of pet lovers and professionals in your area. We have a network of thousands of registered Pet Rescuers in suburbs around South Africa. When pets are rescued they’re taken to a vet or welfare who scans them and their microchip number connects them to you!
How does the Pet Rescuer Network work?
If your pet goes missing:
On the Identipet app, check that your contact details are correct on our database.
Identipet React/Protect Subscribers can send a missing pet alert from the app. Pet Rescuers within 5km are notified, this includes a photo and contact details of your choice.
Phone the vets and welfares in your area with a description of your pet. Uploading posts to social media and printed posters in your area may also help.
When your pet is found, it should be taken to the closest vet or welfare who will scan your pet’s microchip and you will be automatically contacted through our Rapid Alert System.

What is a pet funeral?
Because our pets are family it’s natural to be heartbroken when they die. Cremation is a necessary part of the process of loss.
We’re partnering with Legacy Pet Crematorium to give you and your family a dignified end for your faithful friend, when the time comes.
A general waiting period of 3 consecutive months applies to all cremation claims
A maximum of four pets per family
Pets must be under eight years at the time of sign up
Ashes will be returned within 2 weeks for those pets upgraded to the Ashes Back benefit (R149 p/m)

At Identipet we value veterinarians and their teams for all that they do in caring for South African animals. We’re passionate about working alongside vets to help keep pets safe and cared for.
Identipet provides microchips for many SPCAs in South Africa, as well as donations towards SPCA fundraisers, such as Tats for Tails and Ales for Tails.
Identipet loves SA’s wild animals too and has donated microchips to wildlife organisations over the years. Rhinos, hornbills, and turtles are just some of the creatures that have been microchipped with our chips.
