The Twist In Oliver’s Tale

By Robyn Thompson

14 months after Oliver's disappearance, an incredulous Mrs Porter held her beloved cat in her arms again thanks to an Identipet Microchip. When 5-year-old Oliver went missing the heartbroken Porter family searched for him for months. "He was such a spoiled and pampered cat that we could not even begin to imagine how he would survive on his own, he didn't even like getting his paws dirty!"

Luckily for Oliver a kind-hearted family had fed and looked after him for 6 months.

It was only when the stray insisted that he was going to stay, and was taken to the vet for a check up and vaccinations that the truth was discovered.

Oliver had an Identipet Microchip. Within minutes of the Vet hearing the scanner "beep", Mrs Porter received a telephone call. Her much loved black and white cat was alive and well.

Unfortunately, no one knows what trauma Oliver experienced during the first 8 months of his ordeal. "It was definitely him, but he was restless and wasn't able to settle down."

Sadly, despite being lavished with love and affection, Oliver has once again disappeared.

Mrs Porter is devastated "I worry about him constantly, I would love to know that he is alright."

Oliver is fortunate; he has an Identipet microchip. It is probably only a matter of time before a vet or volunteer at a welfare organisation will breathe a sigh of relief as their scanner gives the telltale, this stray is going to be ok, he has a family that loves him, "beep".

This true story was printed with the kind permission of Mrs Porter, in the hope that Oliver's Tale would assist Identipet, S.P.C.A.s, Welfare Organisations and Veterinarians in their united crusade to reunite lost and stolen pets with their distraught families.
